Sheila Brezick Lukonen

Sheila was born on March 14, 1961, in Chisholm, MN to Jack & Carol Luukkonen of Cherry, MN, where she grew up and graduated from Cherry High School. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis to pursue a career in the travel and hospitality industry. She began her career with Carlson Companies, where she made significant contributions to the development of leadership training curriculum. Her passion for business development continued to grow as she joined FRANCHOICE as a franchisor consultant, where she further developed her expertise in helping businesses grow and succeed.

Her ambitious spirit and innate ability to connect with people would lead her to DoubleTree by Hilton, where she served as Director of Sales and Marketing up until her death.

Sheila was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Albert & Helmi Luukkonen, Frank & Fannie Brezich; Parents, Jack (1999) & Carol (2025) Luukkonen; Special Uncle & Aunt, Werner (1977) & Sophie (2008) Koski; and Nephew, Jeffrey Lindrud (2018).

Sheila is survived by her loving and adoring life partner, Scott Schmalz. Her siblings, Randy (Peggy) Luukkonen, Gail (Martin John) Lindrud, Ricky (Cherie) Luukkonen, and Duane (Sally) Luukkonen. Nieces and nephews, Derrik and Tori Luukkonen, Nikki Lindrud (Scott Buria), Tim, Tiffany and Mindy Luukkonen; beloved extended family members, and friends too numerous to count.

Sheila's easy laughter, generous spirit, and sincere kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private memorial to honor her life will be held at a later date.
