My condolences to Steve’s loved ones. I was the tech guy at the campus in Oakdale where Steve was Security supervisor and we had lots of opportunities to share stories and friendship as I worked on the security systems there. It was a huge shock today to learn of your passing. Such a thoughtful and sensible guy.    Peace be with you, Steve.

Words cannot express what went threw my mind when I heard about Steven. I remember being at your house a few times and visiting,talking cars etc. and seeing the kids. Stay close together Rob and Kathy and use each other for support. I'm very sorry for your loss. Love,Susie Olson

Sympathies on the loss of Steven!  He played tuba in our band at Johnson HS, and was a wonderful young man. So sad he left us so young...

Steven was an intelligent, thoughtful young man who gave a great deal to his country.

I wrote an article about him for the East Side Review newspaper years ago when he was in his teens, a piece I'll try to find and share.

The last time I happened to run into Steven, which was several years ago, we talked about his military service in Iraq and his unenviable task of locating and destroying the hidden, dangerous IEDs. He spoke calmly and uncomplainingly, but said that the task was neither an easy one nor one he expected to quickly put behind him.

When we express thanks for all that our armed forces do, we might also wish to thank the parents who raised them and let them go. And sometimes, like Steven's parents, had to let them go once again.

I pray for the Mix family, as you go through this extremely hard time. I went to high school with Steven  and we were in band together. He always tried to make us laugh, he was a great kid then and grew up to be an outstanding man and devoted father. May your hearts be filled with happiness knowing he is with his father in heaven!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Steve. I worked with him for about a year at AlliedBarton Security and we both continued to work there after we went to separate postings. Steve and I met up and played Warhammer 40k at local gaming shops and he came over to my place to play once as well. I wish I had worked harder to keep in touch with him after we stopped working together, and I feel the loss heavily in my heart. I wish his family the greatest condolences and I hope Steve has found peace.
