To my Uncle Cliff and my cousins - I will never forget my Aunt Vickie's kindness and joy when we saw her.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom/Grandmother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time in your lives. Sending each of you a big comforting hug.

Recently, a Christian woman told me, we don't need to pray to Mary.  Only to Jesus.  And that Mary didn't die - Jesus did. Well, every mother knows, when your child suffers, a mother suffers too.  Mary's blood ran through Jesus. On Good Friday, a part of Mary also died on the cross that day. There' s a reason God made mothers. 
Mom had a strong Catholic faith. She, my mother, was like an intercessor. I know she prayed hard for me when I was sick in 1977. I know she prayed hard for us kids to be safe always. I know she prayed hard for our dad when he was sick in 2017.  I know she prayed hard for the multitude of other intercessions we requested, known and unknown. It was her faith that carried us through life.
Thank you mom for lessons learned and all your prayers.
   I would like to share an observation.
Vista Prairie and Interim were such a blessing during the past 11 months.  Each staff member came from a different walk of life, but came together for one special person,  Mom. To me, certain people were like parts of the Bible.
  Denise, head nurse at Vista Prairie was like a prophet. She asked mom if she would like to live with them and mom said yes. Denise knew Vista Prairie would take good care of her the rest of her life.
  Elissa, hospice RN at Interim, was like Jesus teaching us. Her knowledge and how she explained the process made us hang onto every word she spoke. Answered questions we never knew to ask. Her kindness, tenderness and respect were so profound as she cared for mom both before and after mom passed. I was awe struck.
  The staff at Vista Prairie were like angels. Especially, Ana, Ara, Brittney, Chrissy, Darlene, Eddie, Emma, Frankie, Jeanine, Juanita, Joe, Morgan, Quanita, Terry , and all present and past who cared for mom through this journey.
  A tribute to Vista Prairie:
When our loved one became a stranger to us, Vista Prairie took a stranger in, made her their loved one too and created a bigger family for us.  Thank you and God Bless!

Pray to St. Jude. Red grapes in a tiny bowl. Waving goodbye at the door. Sherryanne’s. Chocolate ice cream. Long visits. Fancy cakes. Dance performance attendance. High German vs. Low German. Perms. 605 Orange. The table that survived a fire, was used as a tennis court, and has marks from Uncle Ken’s building projects. Crossword puzzles. Reader’s Digest books. Black and white soap operas. 

I know that this was inevitable, but I can hardly bear seeing your picture in the attached announcement. You’ve ALWAYS been there, Grandma. Cheering me on. Asking about my life. Spending time with me. Teaching me wisdom and manners. I have so many memories of you and am so thankful I got to spend nearly 35 years with you here. I’m thankful you got to see me get married and thank you for waiting until Brody came so you could meet him. I know you are with Jesus now in Heaven, and I know I will get to run into your arms again one day and give you a big hug. Just know that I will never forget you and I love you so, so much.

There's not one day that has passed without praying for my Uncle Cliff & Aunt Vickie, who mean so much to me growing up and even when I moved to Mpls. to work, they were always available when I wanted to see them at their house on Orange Ave. - just love the fantastic memories growing up.  Shirley

We are so glad we stopped and enjoyed our visit with Aunt Vicki last February. She was a wonderful aunt to us all! She will be missed.
