Glen was born to Clarence and Margaret Clark on January 28, 1931 in Runnells, Iowa. The family moved to Southern California in 1943, settling in the Anaheim area. Glen graduated from Anaheim High School in 1950. Shortly after graduation, Glen enlisted in the U.S. Army and served nearly three years, including time spent in Korea during the war where he earned a Purple Heart. Following his discharge, Glen went to work for his uncle’s garage door company. Ready to get married and start a family, he thought it might be helpful to learn to dance, so he signed up for dance lessons at the Veloz and Yolanda Dance Studio. His instructor was a lovely young lady named Joan Passerello. They secretly started dating (dating students was frowned upon by the management). Glen and Joan were married in Manville, N.J., Joan’s hometown, on May 5, 1956. They made their home in Southern California for a couple years, tried living in New Jersey for a couple years, and eventually settled in Woodlake, where they went into the orange business with a couple small groves. Glen worked a few different jobs before landing a job as a warehouseman for the Visalia Unified School District, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Glen and Joan were very active members of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Woodlake.
In addition to maintaining his properties and caring for his family, Glen enjoyed several hobbies including fishing, wood working, photography and reading. He was an expert craftsman and was selected to show his beautiful rocking horses, reindeer and other pieces at the Soroptimist International of Visalia “Top of the Line” Craft Show.
Glen is survived by his daughters Kathleen Forsythe and Elizabeth Coté, of Visalia, and his son Larry Clark, of El Dorado, MO; along with grandchildren Cameo Flores (Steph), Liz Forsythe (Skip), Jackie Morales (Jimmy) and Amanda Coté, all of Visalia, Katie King (Chris), of Gilroy, and Sam Clark of El Dorado, MO; and seven great grandchildren, Clark, Karington and Connor King, Elora and Jayson Flores, Robert Skipper, Jr., and James Morales. He is preceded in death by his wife Joan Clark, father Clarence (Sam) Clark, mother Margaret Clark, brothers Melvin Clark, Harold Clark and Ned Clark, sister Crystal Mayfield, and grandson Matthew Coté.
