James (Jim) Edwin Lawson, 71, of Visalia, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones January 31, 2022. He was born August 14, 1950 in San Bernardino, CA to Richard and Loraine Lawson. He graduated from Redwood High School, Class of 1968, and went onto the University of Redlands where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree.
After college, Jim lived his life to the absolute fullest. He was in for an adventure and all that life had to offer. He moved from Visalia to Palm Springs where he dedicated over 20 years to the Palm Springs Unified School District as the Purchasing Buyer before retiring. He enjoyed going to work every day, and his colleagues adored his friendship. When Jim wasn’t busy working, he loved spending time socializing with his family and friends, eating good food, such as his favorite cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes he couldn’t get enough of, traveling the world, watching the news, reviewing history books of all sizes, and soaking up the sun while keeping his home full of color with gardening. He had an eye for a beautiful home and it showed! Jim was very intelligent and a scholar. He knew just about everything in every detail. Jim was a man of words and had the funniest sense of humor. He knew just what to say at just the right time if you liked it or not. If you knew Jim, you always left his side with a smile, a laugh or a memory.
Jim is survived by his brother John Lawson, wife Margie, his sister April Hatfield, husband Mike and many nieces and nephews (Stefani, Tiffany, Timothy, Casey, Megan, Kayla, and Jenna) of Visalia, along with many great nieces and nephews who loved him deeply. He is now peacefully reunited with his adored mother Loraine, and father Richard Lawson along with his nephew Shawn Lawson and grandparents Ray and Daphne Lawson, and Jack and Alice Corcilius.
There will be a graveside service Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:00am at the Woodlake Cemetery in Woodlake, CA where he will be laid to rest.
