Maria Torres Montano, 70, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 1, 2016 after a courageous battle with a long illness. Her devotion to family and faith in God gave her support in her trails; such devotion and faith further provided her with peace until the end.
Maria T. Montano was born in Mexico to Tranquilino Torres and Eugenia Escalona. She was devoted to her Catholic beliefs, as she was always found close to one of her velas, or religious candles, offering prayers of intercession for her loved ones.
Maria was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her mas grande tesoro, her greatest treasure, Ralph Montano on November 4, 1971 in Woodlake, California. Together, Ralph and Maria raised their five children with modesty, patience, and discipline.
Maria enjoyed cooking, as though for an army of hungry men, and always welcomed friends and family to her table. When gathered around her table, Maria glowed; others’ delight was always her joy. Among other virtues, her generosity and hospitality will always be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Maria is survived by her husband, Ralph; her sons: Robert, Eddie, Abel, and Ray Acuna; her daughter, Maribell Acuna-Atkinson; her 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ignacio Torres; and her sisters, Lupe Rea and Jenny Leon.
Maria will be having visitation at Miller Memorial Chapel in Woodlake from 4:00-6:00 PM and Rosary at 6:00 PM on Monday, July 11th, 2016. There will then be Mass at St. Frances Cabrini Church at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 with a graveside service immediately following at the Woodlake Cemetery. Celebrant Father Jesse Venzor will officiate the services.
