Phillip was born in Banning, California on May 1, 1937 to Estevan and Seberiana Castillo. He moved to Woodlake, California in 1957. Phillip married Benita Aguilar in Visalia, California on May 1, 1957 and they made their home in Woodlake, California. He was a longtime member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Woodlake. Phillip worked for over thirty years in the agriculture fields. His hobbies included gardening, watching western and military movies, listening to music and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed sitting in his car in the sunshine and reading the newspaper. Phillip most enjoyed times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and watching their sports activities. He had stunning blue eyes that his family will miss so much. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, his baby daughter, Elizabeth, two brothers, Jesse Castillo and Lupe Castillo and his son, Phillip Castillo, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty six years, Benita of Woodlake; three sons, Louis Castillo and Joseph Castillo (Pam), all of Woodlake and Ralph Castillo of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Anna Vargas(Ralph) of Visalia, CA and Susan Metzgar (Ted) of Lancaster, CA; three brothers, Steve Castillo of Woodlake, CA, John Castillo of Tulare, CA and Cruz Castillo of Visalia, CA; four sisters, Lucy Aguilar of Perris, CA, Hope Paloma and Connie Alvarez, both of Woodlake, CA and Jennie Aguilar of El Centro, CA; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 134 Cypress in Woodlake, California on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 2 – 6 p.m. Recitation of Rosary will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 6 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Woodlake. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 9 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with burial following at Woodlake District Cemetery.
