December 18, 2017 at the age of 64. Randy was born in Marshfield, Missouri to
Raymond and Evelyn Barton on October 14, 1953. He graduated from Redwood
High, Class of 1971. He worked for C.J. Ritchie Farms in his younger years, and then
Glen Wells Construction for 32 years and ended his career with Jaxon Enterprises. He
married Sonya Smith on November 19, 1988 and they just celebrated their 29th
Wedding Anniversary. They established their home in Elderwood where they raised their
son Seth. Randy lived life to the fullest. He worked hard, he laughed hard and he
always had a positive spirit. He enjoyed restoring his ’71 Ford Bronco, holidays in the
desert with family and friends, The Oregon Ducks and Nascar.
He is survived by his wife Sonya and his son Seth, the loves of his life. Brother-in-law
and sister-in-law Brian and Stacie Bridges, brother Sonny Barton (Sue), sisters Mary
Hall (Mike), Edith Perkett, Ruth Ann Phelps and Nancy Cervantes (Sal), father-in-law
Bud Smith and step-father-in-law Daryl Farnsworth, along with many nieces and
nephews and the family dog, Eugene.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Evelyn Hall and father Raymond Barton,
step-father William Hall, mother-in-law Carlene Farnsworth and his sister Verlee Atkins.
Thank you to Randy’s dear friend Dr. J. P. Manuele for being there for him. We also
would like to thank the entire staff at Sequoia Regional Cancer Center, including Dr.
Robert Havard Jr., Silvia Dominguez, NP, Grace Pagh, RN, along with Dr. William
Silveira and the entire California Cancer Center team in Fresno. Last but not least, to
all of Randy’s closest friends who were so supportive down the difficult road he had to
travel the past 17 months. Words cannot express how much this meant to him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Randy on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at
10:00 a.m. at Miller’s Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., in Visalia. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to: the V Foundation for Cancer Research at
jimmyv.org or make checks payable to: the V Foundation, 14600 Weston Parkway,
Cary, NC 27513 in memory of Randy L. Barton. This special, special man will be
missed by so many who had the pleasure of knowing him!
