Richard Escobedo was the fifth of eight children born to Joe and Elizabeth Escobedo. He graduated from Woodlake High School in 1984. Richard went on to join the Navy on November 6, 1984 and served on the USS Mars where he traveled twice around the world. He received an Honorable discharge from active and reserve status on November 5, 1990. Richard later went on to work with his father Joe and brothers for several years in the Farm Labor Contracting Business. Richard’s latest job was working as a farm lead technician with Wonderful Citrus of Visalia, California. Richard loved to go hunting in Colorado with his family and he also enjoy a game of golf with his father and brothers. He married the love of his life Edith and started his family here in Woodlake, California.
Richard is preceded in death by his father Joe Escobedo of Woodlake, grandparents and two uncles. He is survived by his wife, Edith of Mexico; son, Jacob of Visalia; step-son, Cesar of Mexico; mother, Elizabeth Escobedo of Woodlake; sisters, Consuelo Escobedo of Woodlake, Rachel Bravo and husband Anthony of Tulare; brothers, Mike Escobedo and wife Karen of Fresno, George Escobedo and wife Linda of Visalia, Ruben Escobedo and wife Beth of Arizona, Steve Escobedo and wife Michelle of Idaho and Ernie Escobedo and wife Gigi of Visalia including numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 3:00pm to 5:30 pm at Miller Memorial Chapel 134 N. Cypress St., Woodlake, CA. Rosary to follow at St. Frances Cabrini 198 N Pepper St., Woodlake at 6:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Frances Cabrini at 9:00am on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 followed with Interment at Woodlake Cemetery District.
