Arlene Marie McQuade Heredia entered this world in New York City on February 16, 1965, born to John and Dolores McQuade. On November 29, 2025, Arlene entered eternal rest in Canton, Ohio, at the age of 60.
Arlene grew up with her siblings in the Ravenswood Houses of Long Island City, NY, where she formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories. She often spoke fondly of her days spent at the Ivy Room on 34th Avenue, a favorite place to gather, laugh, and enjoy the energy of the neighborhood she loved.
Driven, dedicated, and proud to serve, Arlene joined the FBI in August of 1983. Over the course of a remarkable 37-year career, she rose to the position of Supervisory General Supply Specialist. She took tremendous pride in her work and the people she served alongside, and she retired in March of 2020 knowing she had given her absolute best every step of the way.
In 1998, Arlene met and married the love of her life, Joseph Heredia. Together they built a warm and loving home on 31st Avenue and 14th Street in Long Island City. Their marriage was full of joy, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They remained devoted to each other until Joe’s passing in December of 2020, a loss Arlene carried with deep love and grace.
Later in 2020, Arlene began a new chapter when she purchased her home in Alliance, Ohio. She embraced the peace of country life, tending to her home with pride and finding comfort in quiet moments, nature, and the simple joys that came with this new setting. She enjoyed hosting visits from family and friends, always ready with a warm welcome, a generous heart, and stories that could fill a room.
Arlene is survived by fur-baby Max, her sister, Kathleen Townsend, and her brother Brian McQuade and his wife Natalie; her nieces Danielle Townsend-Toro and her husband Marc, and Ashley Townsend; and the apple of her eye, her beloved great-niece Chloe Toro. She is also survived by her aunt Noreen Steinberg and her husband Jack, and Leonard Kaplan and his wife the late Margaret (Peggy) McQuade - Kaplan; her cousins Diane Simon, Jill Bieber, Keith Steinberg, Sean Kaplan, and Casey Kaplan; as well as her sisters-in-law Arleen Manthorne and Edna Hedstrom, and her brother-in-law Michael Heredia.
Arlene leaves behind many loving friends, coworkers, and extended family members who will remember her for her loyalty, humor, generosity, and the unwavering strength that carried her through life.
Arlene touched countless lives with her kindness and steadfast spirit. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
May she rest in peace.
