

Aurora Ramos Castellanos was born in Havana, Cuba on May 1, 1941 to Delio and Ernestina Fundora Ramos. She was raised in a loving and hardworking household alongside her younger brothers Orlando and Jose Manuel, as well as her beloved older cousin Alonso. From a young age she attended her cherished Nuestra Señora de Lourdes school where she consistently excelled in both her primary and secondary studies, graduating with high honors in her Baccalaureate degree in Commercial Studies. She then continued on to the University of Havana for a degree in Public Administration.
Following Cuba's descent into communism she left her homeland in 1961 after marrying Andrés, the love of her life, by proxy she joined him in New York where she arrived on October 4, 1961. They were married in the Catholic faith at Blessed Sacrament Church in Manhattan on October 28, 1961 and were blessed by the birth of their only child, María Teresa. They built a storied life together, residing in Jackson Heights, New York until her demise.
Aurora worked in the airline industry, which she adored, for over 25 years; first at Eastern Airlines, then Continental and ultimately United Airlines. Travel was always a passion for Aurora and Andrés. During their marriage they traveled the world together and made friends everywhere they went.
All who knew her bear witness to her particularly kind, gentle and caring nature. A true lady devoted entirely to her faith, her friends and her family.
Aurora is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Andrés, her daughter María Teresa and beloved son-in-law Lawrence as well as
her grandson Andrew, the apple of her eye. She is also survived by her dearest youngest brother José Manuel and his wife Gisela, their children José Ignacio and Gisela, her husband Steve and their son Simon as well as her nephews Carlos and Orlando Jr., his wife Lisa and her grand-nephews Hunter and Zoe. She was predeceased by her younger brother Orlando whom she deeply loved.
Aurora's life of Catholic faith is a testament to a life well-lived, where she always found the redeeming features of all those who crossed her path. She exemplified grace, patience and boundless love. She is resting in God's loving hands.
