He was the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in the 3 bedroom apartment above the grocery store that was owned by his parents, Sarah and Frank, along with Carol, Eileen, (late Brian), John, Kevin, (late Robert), James, (late Sally Ann), Thomas (Rev.), Margaret and Frank. He attended special ED classes in the late 60’s at PS.151and then went to a Workshop Program where he learned to ride the NYC subways independently and train for a job. He also worked in the store packing shelves and peeling carrots for the catering business among other things. Dad and he moved to Hampton Bays, N.Y. in the mid 80’s, shortly after Mom died. There he worked at AHRC for more than 30 years with perfect attendance. For the past few years, Danny attended their senior day program. In the early 90’s, Dan moved into his first group home on Gardiners Lane in Hampton Bays, his first real experience at semi-independent living. He loved it. As he got older and needed medical supervision, he moved to Caritas House in Aquebogue, N.Y. Catholic Charities run both homes. Danny spent many summer vacation trips with his housemates, one was on a cruise. He also enjoyed spending time with all his siblings on different occasions. Despite his developmental disability, Danny lived a truly happy purposeful life and will be dearly missed.
