At the age of 14, Dora's family moved to New York City where she attended public school. After school, Dora worked alongside her father at Pete's Theatrical Shoe Repair inside the Capezio store on 5th Avenue. Dora's hands were a gift from God - whether outfitting Broadway's biggest stars, crafting home decor or baking baklava, she was talented in all ways. Her passion for cooking and dazzling tastebuds led her to a culinary career as a private caterer, and earning the title of the most popular mom feeding the neighborhood and her community at Greek Festivals. Dora spent the last 10 years proudly as the Head Chef of a New York Greek dining establishment - feeding every customer as a friend and family.
She will be greatly missed and remembered for her extreme generosity, exuberant smile, and genuine loyalty to family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Panagiotis Ktenas.
She is survived by her mother, Artemisia Ktenas, her sons Anthony Locasto and Panagiotis Locasto, daughters-in-law Nastassia Locasto and Elisabeta Locasto, her brothers, Nikolaos Ktenas and Anastasios Ktenas, sister-in-law Frances Ktenas, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private wake and burial is planned.
