OBITUARY

Ellen L. Davis

November 14, 1931June 22, 2020

Ellen Landonious Davis age 88 of Astoria New York was called home to her Lord on June 22, 2020. She was born November 14, 1931 in Baltimore Maryland to the late Leroy and Agnes Lemmons. She was the oldest of seven living siblings.

Ellen's family migrated to Manhattan New York. She worked at New York Hospital for many years. There she met and married James Clarence Davis. God blessed them with one son.

Ellen has always been a caregiver to others. After working at New York Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospitals, she decided to become a Licensed practical nurse. After graduating from Joint Disease Hospital School of Nursing. Ellen also worked at St John’s Hospital in Long Island City as a medical and surgical nurse. Later she went to Elmhurst City Hospital where she worked as an operating room nurse. Her love for others and complete unselfishness made her an excellent candidate for the nursing profession. Ellen retired in July of 1995.

She was a member of member of The Metropolitan Baptist Church in Harlem New York where she devoted herself to God’s work. She was willing to do whatever was requested of her. When Ellen relocated to Queens, she joined The Astoria Baptist Church, Where she was a dedicated member for many years, where she served faithfully in the children’s Sunday School and the Adult Choir.

Ellen was a loving and caring person to all she met. She was very devoted and committed to her family she leaves to mourn and cherish her memory Derek C' Davis Sr. her grandson Derek C' Davis Jr., great grandson Derek the III and great granddaughter Elyse Ellen Davis great granddaughter Samantha Archibald Marlon, great grandchildren Marvin, Eva and Dominick Archibald. Her Brother Fredrick and his wife Gayle Lemmons her sister Christine Banks and her husband Rufus Banks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Davis.
