Faro was born in Cinisi, Sicily, to the late Antonino Vitale and Angelina Chirco on October 28th, 1931. At the age of 14, he became head of household after the early death of his father. During this time, his love for his family guided him through difficult decisions. At the age of 24, he immigrated to the United States and soon married Dominica. He was a trained mason, specializing in mosaics and stone work. But he achieved the American Dream by branching out into many types of work, including construction, selling fruits and vegetables, making bread and being a landlord.
Faro had a passion for gardening and making wine. He was well known throughout the neighborhood for his charisma and joyous spirit. Faro took pride in his work and his ability to care for his family and welcomed every opportunity to share stories that highlighted his knowledge and experience. Years of sharing his wisdom instilled his values of hard work, dedication, and perseverance in each member of his family.
Besides his loving wife Dominica, Faro is survived by his three daughters; Angela Colon (Milton), Marianna Aluia (Pasquale), and Silvana Leone (Vincent). As well as his grandchildren: Giuseppe Leone (Britt), Stefanie Aluia, Bianca Leone (Stephanie), Ariel Leone (Steven), Alyssa Colon, Adrianna Aluia, and Mia Colon, his great granddaughter Ellia Leone, his siblings Giuseppe Vitale (Lina), Luisa Palazolo (Vincenzo), Francesca Vitale (Vincenzo), Salvatore ‘Sam’ Vitale (Linda), and many nieces and nephews.
