In April 1967, Florinda came to the United States with her husband and two of their children in search of a better life for their family. Their eldest child, who had remained in Cuba because he was of military age, was reunited with the family 13 years later when Florinda returned to Cuba to bring her son and his family to the United States.
Florinda was a hardworking and devoted wife and mother. She worked cleaning a laundromat and babysat children to help her husband with the family’s financial needs. Through her hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering love, she helped build a loving and close-knit family.
Florinda found joy in the simple things in life. She loved sitting by the window, counting the dogs as they passed by, working on her word searches, drinking her coffee, watching her favorite novelas, and watching Ruleta de la Suerte on television. She was a patient, gentle, and loving woman who poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Florinda’s greatest joy was her family. Her love, strength, patience, and devotion will remain a cherished part of their lives and will continue through the generations she helped nurture.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as by all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
May she rest peacefully, surrounded forever by the love she gave so freely to her family.
