Frank was born in Baltygarron, Spá, Tralee, Co Kerry, Ireland on the 17th December 1936 to his parents Michael and Hannah Mary O’Sullivan. He was the 14th child of 15 children. Frank was born to a farming family and so took part in all the activities and work on the farm with his parents and siblings. He loved to swim in the summer evenings with neighbours and friends at the nearby Barrow strand.
Like many of his generation Frank finished his education and left for New York where his brother Paddy was already working.
He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Artillery Corp in Germany. After leaving the army he went to work for T.W.A. in JFK Airport where he spent the rest of his working life.
Frank loved his adopted home. He loved to host family and friends when they visited New York and enjoyed showing them all the sights.
Frank was a devout Catholic and had great faith. He had special devotion to Our Lady and visited Knock and Fatima Shrines many times. He was an active member of San Sebastian’s Church in Woodside and loved to meet his friends there. He lived his faith, was generous with his time and material support to anyone who needed his help. He had many very good friends who looked out for him especially in recent times when Frank’s health had begun to decline. Franks family are very grateful he had such wonderful friends and wish to express their gratitude to them.
Franks requiem Mass will take place in San Sebastian’s Church Woodside (NY 11377) on Saturday 24th September and 10.45am. His ashes will return to his home parish of Spá, Tralee, Co Kerry where he will be interred with his parents in the family grave.
