George A. Roff, III

George Augustus Roff III, 54, of Woodside, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022. He was born on January 10, 1968 in Washington, DC to George and Kate Roff. He was a dedicated educator, volunteer, and advocate for diverse communities throughout the tristate area. One of his most rewarding positions was working with at-risk youth as literacy director at the Green Chimneys school in Brewster, NY. George volunteered whenever he could find the opportunity. He was a loyal advocate for incarcerated men on Rikers Island and could always be counted on to help people in need.

George was a motorcycle enthusiast who spent countless hours riding his Triumphs and enjoyed working on them almost as much. He was a tremendous cook and loved to prepare a meal for friends and family alike. He had such an adventurous spirit, a quick wit, and could fill a room with laughter.

He loved his hometown of Fort Washington, Maryland and he cherished his childhood on the Potomac River with his friends and beloved family. He equally loved his community in Woodside, where he lived with Colleen for 12 years. He was cherished by many for his kindness and integrity. He was a doting father who loved to spend time with his beloved boy, Liam. He will be missed by us all forevermore.

George is survived by his partner, Colleen McNamara, and son, Liam McNamara Roff, parents George and Kate, brother Jonathan, sister Sarah (Jeremy), and nephew Rooney.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at the Kennedy Roth Funeral Home, 41- 45 58th St, Woodside NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 10:45 a.m. at St Sebastian’s Church in 58-02 Roosevelt Ave, Woodside, NY 11377 . Arrangements include private cremation.
