Irene Mary Soroka passed away on March 20, 2026 at the age of 93. She was a resident of Commack, New York. Irene was born on East 13th Street in Manhattan to Michael and Mary Dzurko. Her family moved to Astoria, Queens when she was 7. Irene graduated from Julia Richman High School in Manhattan. Irene was employed as an Executive Secretary at Great Lakes Carbon and married John Soroka in 1952 at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Manhattan. Irene became a homemaker with three children (John, Richard and Arlene) and worked for the Office of the Suffolk County Executive and later the Suffolk County Department of Health before retiring in 1991. She is survived by her three children and has three grandchildren (Christine, Caroline and Michael).
