Jerome Michael Levinson

Jerome “Jerry” Levinson 77, of Woodside NY died peacefully on November 2, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary O’Rourke and Samuel Levinson as well as his brother John and sister Ann Marie.

Born and raised in the Bronx, as a child Jerry enjoyed swimming, fishing and sports. He was known in his neighborhood as “King of the Hill”. He was a little hot-headed and didn’t fear fighting anyone regardless of their stature. He always said, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall”. His younger brother Andrew recalls never having to worry about being bullied. They would say “don’t mess with him because he’s Jerry’s brother”.

After high school Jerry served in the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. He came home and applied to City College where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began working in construction as a Metal Lathers and worked on many NYC high rise buildings before landing a job at TRW Inc. It was during that time that he met his wife Luz.

Together they built a life of devotion to each other. Jerry always looking for the bargains, collecting different gadgets, taking pictures at all the family functions and Luz just allowing him to be Jerry. They often took walks every day for about 3 miles and you could almost always count on seeing them together as they enjoyed the outdoors. We will miss Jerry’s sense of humor and many stories.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Luz Burgos Levinson and 4 stepchildren: Nayda (Frank) Vega, George Crowley, Maureen (Luis) Rodriguez and Doreen (Johnny) Jimenez; his two siblings Carol (David) Pollack and Andrew (Christine) Levinson; his widowed Brother-in-law Thomas Guerin and his many nieces and nephews: Dawn, Thomas, Christopher, Robert, Jeffrey, Lisa, Mary and Eileen.

The family will receive friends and family on Wed., Nov. 8th from 3-8pm at the Kennedy Roth Funeral Home at 41-45 58th Street, Woodside NY 11377. Burial will take place on Thur., Nov. 9th at 12:30pm at Calverton National Cemetery at 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY 11792.
