

Jill Dickson, 62, of New York City passed away on March 5, 2012, at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, after a sudden illness.
The daughter of the late Melvin and Alveta Dickson, Jill was born in Manhattan and raised in Long Island City, N. Y., where she attended Saint Rita’s Roman Catholic Church and Long Island City High School. After graduating from high school, she earned a BA degree from Wells College in Aurora, N.Y., and an MSW from the Hunter College School of Social Work in New York City.
Jill’s career as a social worker spanned four decades of service to at-risk families and children. She held various social work supervisory positions in New York City, including director of the Bronx Teen Parenting Program of New York Foundling; director of preventive services for Miracle Makers, Inc.; deputy director of the Defender Services Unit for the Legal Aid Society, deputy director of CASA NYC (Court Appointed Special Advocates); and director of social services for the Rheedlen Foundation, now known as the Harlem Children’s Zone.
Jill is survived by her brother Everett Dickson of White Plains, N.Y.; brother Alan Dickson of Jersey City, N.J.; sister Lorraine Susan Santaliz of Whitehall, Pa.; and nieces and nephews Brooke Dickson-Knowles; Wesley Dickson; Emmanuel, Lorena and Raquel Santaliz; and a host of other family and friends.
