Uncle Larry,  you were the only one that Understood: That the Bankers are scammers, the Journalists Liars, the Taxman a chump.  You alone had the words and wisdom to help a young nephew get free of his security clearance and live a normal life again. I only wish we had more time to spend. I never got to spend as much time as I wanted to with you and Aidalina.  My brain craved your big brain.  My wounded stoic wanted the guidance of your wounded stoic.  Toughest and Smartest of all the Hayles,  I cherish our last conversation about the deep corruption in American banking, finance and insurance systems.  And you shared with me the loss of your 26 Airdale comrades on the Carrier.  You will always be a quiet Giant in my book.  And you are deeply missed.

My Uncle Lawrence was a quiet giant of a gentleman who kept it all inside.  A savant stock-trader and bone-deep loyalist to his family, he had the good sense to Marry Aidalina.  His muse and partner.
He lost 23 members of his "Airdale" unit aboard the USS Aircraft Carrier he served on in a readiness accident yet never mentioned it until the end of his life.  He never wanted a service or memorial of any kind.  He knew that bankers were hustlers and bureaucracy never helped the Common Man,  He blazed his own path without regard for anyone else's opinion.  A man.  A Great American.
