

Lillian Josephine Lynch Kubernat was born on March 12, 1936 in Miltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland to Bridget “Bridie” Meade Lynch and Martin Lynch, joining her siblings, Mary Ellen Lynch, Martin John Lynch, Bernadette “Bernie” Lynch and Edmund F. Lynch. Lillian came to the United States in July of 1949, along with her mother, Bridie, and her brother, Edmund, and took up residence in the Bronx, New York. For many years, Lillian lived with and cared for her mother Bridie right up until the time of her death on December 14, 1980. On June 21, 1982, Lillian married Frank V. Kubernat. Lillian and Frank lived happily together until Frank’s passing on November 2, 2006. Lillian continued to live independently in Astoria and was very active in her parish and a prayer group which would meet at St. Patrick’s Cathedral up until the onset of COVID, after which prayer meetings would be held remotely. Lillian survived her parents Martin (March 17, 1977) and Bridie (December 14, 1980); her siblings and in-laws Mary Darcy (November 25, 2015), and Paddy Darcy (January 12, 2016), Martin Lynch (March 29, 1997) and Teresa Whelan Lynch (July 11, 2025), Bernadette “Bernie” Fahey (December 11, 2007) and Tom Fahey (April 15, 2004) and Edmund F. Lynch (September 7, 2021) and Mary Fitzpatrick Lynch (August 8, 2021); and her Nephews James Neist (April 12, 2005), John Darcy (April 9, 2024 ) and Ronald Smith (February 10, 2025) . In addition to her many friends in the Queensview Complex and her prayer group, Lillian is survived by her Nieces and Nephews: Margaret Neist, Brian and Joan Fahey, Brenda and Jimmy Zanfardino, Brendan and Jane Fahey, James and Judi Lynch, Teresa and Tom Alberto, Kevin Lynch, Brendan and Mary Lynch, Martin and Martha Lynch, Michael and Margaret Lynch, Patricia and Ciaran O’Flanagan, Michael and Geraldine Darcy, Ann Davies, Marion Darcy, and Sharon and Donato Schiavone; as well as many, many great nieces and great nephews and even great, great nieces and nephews.
Following mass, Lillian will be taken to John F. Kennedy Airport to be flown to Ireland for a service and interment in Coore Church Cemetery with her parents.
