Manju Verma lived a life defined by love, resilience, and deep faith. After losing both of her parents at the age of 17, she found strength and solace in the Guru Granth Sahib and lived by the teachings of Nir Bhau and Nir Vair. Her faith guided her through life and she taught her children the power of paath, simran, and naam jaap.
At 19, she met the man who would become her husband and immigrated to the United States, bringing with her a vibrant spirit and unwavering optimism. Together they built a loving home where she became the heart that held the family together.
A gifted linguist, she worked as a librarian at the New York Public Library and later as a translator for the federal court system in New York City. She believed deeply in the power of language, learning, and service.
Deeply spiritual, she traveled to India regularly in devotion to her faith. Bold, vibrant, and impossible to ignore, she filled every room with her presence and love.
She endured the heartbreaking loss of her daughter in February 2025 and faced serious illness in her final year with quiet strength.
She leaves behind her loving sons, Bobby and Shyam, her daughter Anu, two lovely daughter in laws Shilpa and Liz, and her beloved grandchildren, Nav and Gugu.
Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the faith she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
For one who sees me everywhere and sees everything in me,
I am never lost, nor is he lost to me - Bhagavad Gita
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
love leaves a memory no one can steal - Irish Proverb
Om Shanti Om
