

Mila Mendez died last September 29, at 2:09 am at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, New York City, of cardiac arrest after a long illness. She is survived by husband Fernando, and their two sons Nathan and Mervin. Mila’s parents who already passed away were Faustino Beltran and Milagros Dado. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters – Armando Beltran, Erlinda Tugaoen, Danilo Beltran, Virginia Bautista, Hilanio Beltran, Carolina Tolentino; another brother, Isagani Beltran is deceased.
Mila was a visible presence in Filipino community affairs and social services over the last two decades; she was a patron of many young musical talents and stage performers whose careers received a boost from many Filipino special events which Mila figured prominently. She had received numerous awards and recognitions for her involvement in various nonprofit Filipino community projects. She was a competitor and was always proud of being a consistent valedictorian throughout her school years.
