

Mary “Molly” Linehan of Derry, Ireland and later of Woodside, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 4, 2025. Molly leaves behind her four children, Colleen and Brian, John and Diane, Jennifer and Kevin, and Billy and Elaine, her grandchildren, Marie, Tommy, Katrina, Shannon, Jessica, Jamie, and Orlaith and great grandchildren, Mark, Isabelle, Molly, Brian, Caden, Shea, Michaela, Sarah, Aria and Georgia, her sister, Olive and brother and sister-in-law John and Eileen. She will be sorely missed by her large extended family in New York, Florida and in Ireland. Molly is predeceased by her doting husband, Tom, her parents, Joe and Sadie, and siblings Jennie, Johnny, Sally, Mickey, Edmund, Joe, Margaret, William, Iris and Seamus.
In her final months, Molly’s niece Terri provided her with exceptional care and kept her spirits up through her final days.
Molly moved to New York when she met the love of her life Tom while he was stationed in the U.S. Naval base in Derry in 1955. Molly and Tom raised their family in Woodside where Molly lived with her daughter Colleen and son-in-law Brian until her passing. Being from a musical family, Molly was always ready for a song and a dance. She will be remembered for her many sing-songs and spins on the dance floor. Molly was well-known in the Irish community in Woodside as she worked in both the Stop Inn and Blue Sky Diners for many years. Molly and Tom opened their arms and their home widely to countless people visiting New York from Ireland over the years. Their generosity is remembered by so many around the world.
Molly was a true American patriot and an unapologetic Irish Fenian. Tiocfaidh ár lá!
