I met Monique as a young mom when she came to work for Robert Palliser at Scotts Flowers. I worked at his Queens location. Monique & I occasionally worked together but became fast friends. She became more like a daughter to me, one that I was very proud of. As I learned of her life, I was amazed by this young woman who worked tirelessly for her daughter ....giving her the best of everything.  Monique was a strong, loving, tough woman & I am blessed to have known her & call her friend. As I told Monica, she is "her mother's daughter "....

I knew Nicky off and on for many years of her life. I was a close friend of her mom, Sherri. I can’t believe Nicky is gone. I still remember her strength when her mom got sick. How strong she was and has always been.  I was supposed to visit her at her new job and I kept rescheduling because…well there is no because. We all get busy and we think our friends and family will be there. And then they’re not and we long desperately for what we didn’t do. Wishing for more time. I’m so happy I invited Nicky for dinner one night and we had a great time. We hadn’t seen each other for a really long time. She was so beautiful. So poised. So smart. Her smile lightened the room. It always does. She was family to me because she was one of my best friend’s kids. So was her brother, Chris. And so is Monica. But Monique and I also had a separate and amazing relationship as adult women. And I loved the woman she became. I loved the mother she was to Monica. I loved her infectious energy. I know it doesn’t make sense, but I also feel like I just lost Sherri all over again. All my blessings for peace and serenity to friends and family. We lost a woman of great substance. 


I’m going to miss you Mo. You always put a smile on my face no matter what I was going through and you all always said to me “We are fighters and we a strong so don’t give up “. You told me this during my cancer battle and yours. R. I.P Mo you got your wings 🙏🏾

To the family of Monique Douglas. It is with great sadness that I write to say how sorry I am to hear of Monique's passing. I felt fortunate to have known her for such a brief period.  We never got the chance to meet in person but spoke by way of cell phone and text messages. I should start by saying that my name is Judy Stevens, and I was one of her Aunt Donell's caretakers along with Diane Jamieson. Donell, Diane and I became like family because we were together for many years. We got to know Monique through her Aunt Donell and found her to be a vibrant, gracious and caring person. Diane and I afforded Monique the opportunity to speak to and say her goodbyes to Donell over the phone on Oct. 7th (as her aunt was transitioning) and I'm sure that made Monique's heart happy. I wish you much peace, comfort and many happy memories of her through this difficult time.
