Semen Demkiw

He was born in Lviv, Ukraine on September 3, 1921 and immigrated to the United States in 1949 in search of a better life.

He married his beautiful bride, Sofia Demkiw, on December 7th, 1944 and they built a wonderful life together.

Upon arriving in New York, Semen worked tirelessly in ventures such as building management and real estate for many years in order to provide peace and security for his wife, sons and grandchildren. He had a passion for the country life, fresh air and the outdoors.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Sofia Demkiw and two loving sons, Jerry Demkiw and Michael Demkiw.

Also survived by his six grandchildren, Thomas Demkiw, Jessica Demkiw, Michael Demkiw, Krystyna Demkiw, Nicholas Demkiw and Laryssa Demkiw.

Visitation will be held at Thomas M. Quinn & Sons Funeral Home located at 35-20 Broadway, Astoria, NY on Thursday October 13, 2016 from 7-9pm and Friday October 14, 2016 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. The Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 9:30 am at Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church 31-12 30th Street, Astoria 11106; and the burial will follow immediately at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Hamptonburgh, NY.
