Sergio Jorge de Mesa was a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather. Born April 23rd in 1935 in Santiago de Cuba, he paved his way to New York City in 1961 to make a better life for his loved ones. Sergio served the community by being a longtime active member of his parish, as well as an elementary school principal, where he shared his passion for learning with countless children. He had a passion for travel, from continent to continent, he wanted to experience the world at any chance he had. Sergio was a self-less friend to many. When you think of the expression, “will give you the shirt off his back,” he was that and so much more. Anything he had, he would give, and never ask for anything in return. Papito, we are so glad you were able to meet and spend time with your granddaughter, Delilah. Your relationship was beautiful to see. We will miss the wisdom and advice you shared, and the unconditional love you had for us. You accomplished so much in your beautiful and exciting life. I am so proud to have you as a father. We love you now, forever, and always.
