Susan Camenzuli was a strong, loving, caring woman. She was born and raised in Astoria. She caught the eye of Dennis at the tender age of 16. The romance began along with the trips to Wildwood while they were keeping company. They were married and began a family. Susan had a great passion for her Catholic faith, family and friends. She was an inspiration to her two daughters, Christina and Jennifer and all who knew her. Susan was a devoted wife and mother. She made sure her children had the very best of everything. She joined the PTA and was involved in CCD in order to ensure the very best for her girls. The respect of a nurturing woman she will always have from her sons-in-law, Chris and John who knew how much family meant to her. From the very first day she met each of them she welcomed them into her family with open arms. She enjoyed cooking special family dinners especially for the "boys" in the family and boy did they enjoy the food and great recipes she would love to try for them. Susan's grandchildren were the sparkle in her eye. She enjoyed doing so many things with them. Madeleine and Rocco were so lucky to spend such precious time with her and have fun as she doted on each of them. Although Giana and Joseph came later and didn't get to create such wonderful memories, she loved them greatly and will always remain in their hearts. For all those who knew her, cooking was a great passion of hers. She loved her special teas, jams and spices and to always try new things. It allowed her to bring her family together to enjoy great meals. The holidays were a special time for Susan. She enjoyed making it spectacular for her kids with lots of decorations and traditions. From the English Christmas with figgy pudding, personalized gingerbread men and "fruit" marzipan tree at Christmas to the corned beef dinner on St. Patty's Day and egg coloring on Easter. She loved to celebrate with a bang. After the onset of her illness she was not able to do many of the things she enjoyed. Shopping at the mall was harder, but QVC benefitted as well as the post office for all the things she sent back. Her daughters continue to cook and shop in her memory. The last few years were very difficult and Susan suffered alot. She was a fighter, but finally on January 20th Jesus ended her suffering and called her home. With Dennis by her side she took her final breath. For all of her family this time is bitter sweet; we know she is in a much better place, free of all the pain and agony she endured for much too long. We wish we still had her here to enjoy great moments with her family and friends.
We will always remember and cherish you in our hearts and prayers.
We love you!
