OBITUARY

Timothy Jerome Sablik

January 14, 1953May 30, 2021

Timothy Jerome Sablik, 68, went home to be with the Lord and his dear family members in heaven on May 30, 2021. Tim was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Elsie, and brothers Joseph and Martin. He is survived by sister in law, Beverly Shively Sablik, his three nieces and one nephew Jeanne Sablik, Karen Gonzales (Eli), Marjorie Quarles (David), Lawrence Sablik (Mary), four great nephews and one great niece, Ethan and Zachary Gonzales, and Aaron, William, and Kathryn Quarles, and many dear cousins. Tim was born on January 14, 1953 in Queens, NY at Boulevard Hospital to Martin Charles Sablik and Elsie Marie Fuzia. He attended Brooklyn Tech High School followed by Queens College, City University of New York. There he studied Political Science and completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1974. Tim retired at a youthful age from Bell Atlantic to enjoy life exploring his favorite place in the world, New York City. Tim knew NYC like the back of his hand and walked miles and miles each day studying and noticing interesting things about the world around him. When you joined him on his walks about the city, he could transport you to places that you never even knew existed. He found beauty in unexpected and sometimes hidden locations and shared this beauty through his pictures and stories.

Tim cared very deeply for his family. He visited them as often as he could and called and talked to them for hours at a time. When they were in town, he met them at the airport and gave them guided tours to anywhere their hearts desired to see in New York. He loved to share interesting facts, thought-provoking emails, humorous texts, and fascinating pictures. He really knew how to entertain and ask deep questions about life. He wasn’t afraid to ask hard questions and challenge others to examine their thinking and do the right thing for humanity and the world.

Tim was truly an artist with his photography, poetry, and song lyrics. He captured the world with a unique lens, helping one notice things not seen without his help. His photographs were creative, innovative, and thought-provoking. He turned selfies into abstract art. He loved to write humorous song lyrics and poems that parodied popular song melodies. These lyrics always brought a smile to your face with their ingenuity, wit, and style.
