Mr. Kolokotronis was more then a teacher he was a friend and like father. He would give advices and tell me stories. Mr.Kolokotronis was a kind hearted man . I still feel like he is still here by spirit . I always think about him . I am honored that I was his student . RIP Mr. Kolokotronis you will always be missed, love and never forgotten .

"When I first met Kolokotronis I felt a great respect for the guy, but after having known him even after he passed, it was just unlimited admiration. You would never meet someone like him, with the philosophies he had, the ideas morals he followed and a extraordinary personality. Having to grow up in a family with harsh tradition, he taught me something that changed my life forever, its called going for what YOU L-O-V-E! He inspired me to be myself and to express myself and to have faith in myself, to not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it, no matter how different I may be and to fight for what I believe in. I'm not going to explain my life story or anything but growing up I had some "hard travelin" with my family having to do with tradition and being myself. But Kolokotronis changed all that he changed my LIFE man! Taught me to thing outside of the box instead of looking in the inside. When he was in the hospital during my senior year, I kept thinking about him forever, then when he died a jolt hit my heart, everyone heard the news at the high school there was even an announcement to tribute the man and to where blue on Friday to show respect to the guy, and there was even a memorial which I went to. It was like hearing that JFK or John Lennon passed. Ever since he was at the hospital, everyday I would think about him or at least have a thought on the great man. He grooviest cat to relate to kids, he spoke like a teenager, act like a teenager, always told us that he dressed like a teenager, and still had a degree on philosophy and psychology, he was so intelligent he'd tell you which fish had mercury and which didn't, to Muhammad Ali taking ballet to knowing about different cultures, having great stories to tell to Bob Dylan being Canadian. He was the most amazing person I've ever met. You had to be there to believe it. It really bites though because you don't find many people like him, the two closest people to really be like Kolokotronis are cats like John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Bruce Lee and Hawkeye Pierce from "M.A.S.H" who are personal heroes of mine. Not even famous celebrities would be as amazing as Kolokotronis. Anyway I can go on and on about how great he was but that would be too long to talk about, just for him to Rest In Peace and know that he'll always be there for us in our heart. I'll never forget a man like him....never,having to know him when he was alive him and I didn't had that much in common,later when I was getting into the 60s and 70s and philosophy it we did but it was when I was seeing him less and less. But during the times we spend together as if he was my 2nd father from the time we met to the time of his death was the cherishing the philosophy to be an individual , to think like a kid and to be a kid and to still prove that you can be a professional with a superior at the same time.To be yourself and stick it to the cats who pick on you for not conforming to what they want. To Be Yourself, I think that's what we had in common, and if it is I'm real proud of that, I'll tell ya.

Mr. Kolokotronis was one of my best teachers in Bryant high school, to me he was more than just a teacher he was my best friend, he was always their when I struggled, helped me when I had a hard time, he was their when I was sad, always made me happy with his amazing and funny jokes. I will miss you Mr. Kolokotronis, you will always remain as my number one teacher. R.I.P. Mr. Kolokotronis.

Dear Mr. Kolokotronis,

Although I was never lucky enough to have you as a teacher at Bryant, you were still my teacher in my eyes. You have taught me the importance of questioning everything before accepting what is given to me, which is something no ordinary teacher would have told me. You will always be in our hearts. Thank you for everything.

Vasilis, I may have given you New York, but you showed me how important it was to leave. I thank you for inspiring me to go beyond what I knew and where and how I was raised. Because of you, I became more curious and accepting of all people and cultures and I've traveled six of the seven continents. I now live among the redwoods and vineyards in California, far in miles and time from the East Village. Those days were filled with friends, slideshows and interesting debate. You have touched many people and will be remembered.  My heart goes out to Petra and Alex.

Vasilis was a good man with a big heart. He will be missed.  I wish I could be there with you today but I was unable to get off work. God bless your family.  My heart is with you.

Vasilis, You taught us the greatest Spanakopita on earth, I will never forget that. Also seeing the great Niagara Falls when we all travelled there is an forever lasting memory, wish You were still with Petra and Alexaki.

Vasilis was a great friend to me in college and in well into my 20s. His passion for life, politics and music were an inspiration to many of us. His broad and unique worldview helped shape my own. Mr. Kolokotronis was a teacher of mine. He taught me World history. But not only did he teach me history, he taught me about life and what it was like to live in the real world. He gave me great advice on how to succeed and really believed that I would make it in life. I send my condolences to his entire family.

Although we connected through mutual friends in our twenties and then lost contact, we shared great times together and I dearly give my condolences to his loved ones.  I especially remember tooling around Crete with him on my first trip to Europe.  Great memories.

I am saddened to hear about the death of Vasilis.  I was a friend of his in the 1980s to early 1990 when he lived on the lower east side.  My husband, Michael and I shared many fun times with him.  We have tried many times over the years to find him through the Internet.  I regret that I did not get to see him one last time.  We always enjoyed a good discussion about politics!
