Our best friend, husband, father, and brother passed away on December 16, 2020. Alex grew up in Atlanta and was the son of Neal and Katharine (Kathie) White. He attended Woodward Academy in College Park. He served in the army from 1990 to 1994 and was awarded seven medals of commendation. After being honorably discharged in 1994, Alex graduated from Cornell University in 1998 with a BA degree in Hotel Hospitality and Management.
His life was cut short by an aggressive glioma brain tumor discovered in October of this year. It was simply shocking how fast we lost him. We will all miss him terribly. The grief that we hold now as he transitions from earth back into his parents’ and God's loving hands will soon fade. He will continue to live in all our hearts and minds. Words alone cannot describe this wonderful man. He was kind, generous, loyal, and loving. Most importantly, he was a great husband and an amazing father to his son, Jake. It was always family first for Alex and his actions reflected that every day of his life. He lived 1,000 years of life in the 51 short years we had with him because he attacked life with vigor, zest and excitement; he grabbed it by the lapels, kissed it, and swung it back onto the dance floor. He had a rare combination of someone that had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was most important- the simplicity of living a life with those you love.
Alex was a veteran and a patriot who loved this country. Like his father, Neal White, Alex took a keen interest in politics and the direction of this country. Although he was not feeling well, he made sure to vote in the November 3rd presidential election this year. His rise to greatness was by leading and not following and he blazed his own path in this life. When he was younger, he was able to travel extensively and had a chance to see a lot of this world and more importantly, this country that he loved.
Alex always had a knack for being a chef and he loved to cook. He attended culinary school and achieved his lifelong dream of owning a restaurant in 2014. When he created meals for family and friends, it was always done to perfection and with love. Professionally, he worked as a commercial appraiser and excelled in that career to provide well for his family.
He always had a strong reverence and respect for our creator. He grew up attending Peachtree Presbyterian Church. He always spent time praying with his family and leading by example to honor and respect our God. He was very humbled by the life experience and thanked God every day.
Alex is survived in legacy by his loving wife of 13 years, Christine White (Chrissy), his son Jake, his sisters, Louise Carter (Kirk) and Charlotte Schaffer (Dan), and his loving in-laws, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.
