Allen was born on November 17, 1950 in Chattanooga TN to Allen and Inez Moore. He grew up in Sand Mountain, Alabama and Dekalb County Georgia. He attended Sequoyah High School and earned a football scholarship to Auburn University. He remained a passionate alumni and fan throughout his life (War Eagle!), coached his son’s teams, and passed down his football wisdom to him.
Allen was married to Susan Anderson Moore for 53 years. They met in high school and together they treasured their journey of life, love and happiness together.
He was an executive and a trailblazer, traveling to cities throughout the country. He was a coach for his son Hayden’s football team and passed down his wisdom to him. He admired his daughter Veronica in all of her ballet, dance, and cheer performances.
Outside of work, Allen loved fishing and hunting, anything that involved the woods or the beach. He was happiest when he was with his wife and children, whether they were on vacation in Florida or exotic destinations, camping, or simply spending time outdoors. He loved Motown and classic rock, Westerns and spy films. He was passionate about grilling, golf and loved the family cats and dogs, lifted weights with the best of them, loved to tell stories with old friends, and treasured being a husband, a dad, and Papa to Lily.
People who knew Allen will remember him for those blue eyes that were as earnest as they were kind, his warm and genuine voice, and his big heart. He was a genius of the outdoors, the kind of person who could out-fish a pro and still take in the beauty of the world, and he was just as brilliant when it came to football, even if he was notorious for turning off a game if his team was playing poorly. Chances are, he’d predicted it the night before. He was his children’s biggest fan and loved his wife Susan with all his heart. Allen loved to laugh and was always there for a bear hug, always remembered and forever in our hearts.
Allen is survived by his wife, Susan; his children Veronica (Kelly) and Hayden (Sunny); and his granddaughter Lily.
