Anne Patrick Abdon

Anne Patrick Abdon, age 84, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2017 in Rome, Georgia. She came from humble beginnings in a war torn London. She overcame being hit by a vehicle at the age of five, many bombings in her hometown and traveling across the world on a ship at the age of twelve. Anne was a strong individual and while at work at Cincinnati Milling, she met her true love, Wilford. After meeting Anne, Wilford professed that he was going to marry her; sure enough, at the young age of 19, Anne found herself married to the man whom she would spend 53 beautiful years with. The couple had five children together, Wilford “Buddy” Jr., William “Billy,” Sherril, Susie and Jan. Her family later grew to include many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even a great-great-grandchild. Those who knew Anne would describe her as no less than a “firecracker.” She was quick witted, honest to a fault, enjoyed laughter and most of all loved unconditionally. Anne was a sassy woman and made sure she was always dressed even on game days when she was cheering on the Bulldogs or Falcons. She was a great cook and would invite the whole family together for Sunday dinners at her home. She made sure that you acted properly: hats off at the table, white bread and sliced tomatoes at every meal and no tossing bread across the table (as her family can attest to). After the loss of her husband, Anne stayed strong for her family. She loved him deeply and always slept with his handkerchief under her pillow. Anne never seemed to have met a stranger and somehow managed to remember everyone’s name. She became good friends with practically everyone she met including the amazing staff who cared for her at Kindred Hospital during her final days. Throughout everything she was going through, Anne still managed to find joy in sharing stories to her family from the past, lovingly threatening to beat people to put them in line and playing her infamous scratch offs. Anne’s feisty memory will live on in her family and friends. Anne Patrick Abdon is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wilford Eugene Abdon Sr.; son, William Charles “Billy” Abdon; and grandchild, Kash McClarey. Survivors include her son, Wilford Eugene “Buddy” Abdon Jr.; daughters, Sherril Isabelle Treadway, Susie Swanson, Jan Marie Abdon and Ashely Suddeth; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 9:00 am at Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia. Anne’s extended family of the Georgia Patriot Guard Riders will escort Woodstock Funeral Home to the Georgia National Cemetery where Committal Services will follow at 11:30 am.
