On November 14, 2025, the world lost a bright and steady light: Anne Preece at age 86. Born in England on September 13, 1939, Anne’s story began in the quiet moments of childhood, where she met the boy who would one day become her husband. With Les, she built a life rooted in devotion, adventure, and enduring love.
Anne and Les embraced an extraordinary adventure, leaving behind everything familiar to start a new chapter in the United States. California welcomed their children, Andrew and Bethany. Texas and Kentucky shaped their middle years. Georgia held their final chapter together. When Les passed in 2012, Anne carried her grief with grace — and then, beautifully, she grew beyond it.
In the years that followed, Anne discovered a beautiful and inspiring second chapter of her own. She continued forward with grace, openness, and a willingness to embrace new joys. She took up line dancing and becoming a favorite presence in the group with her bright smile and spirited energy. She delighted in lunches and dinners with her friends, savoring new memories and companionship. Anne also found community and friendship around the tables of Bunco, Hand and Foot and Mahjong.
Anne’s presence brought a sense of calm and reassurance to the people around her. She had a gentle wit, a thoughtful mind, and a way of making everyday moments feel meaningful. She will be remembered for the steadiness she offered, the sincerity she lived by, and the love she poured into her family — especially into her children, who always felt the strength of her belief in them.
Faith was the quiet thread running through Anne’s life. She was devoted to her church community, finding comfort in familiar hymns, strength in prayer, and connection in the fellowship she shared Sunday after Sunday. Her faith was not loud or showy; it was lived — in her kindness, her patience, and the way she offered compassion without hesitation. She carried that faith with her through every move, every transition, and every joy and hardship that shaped her story.
Anne’s memory will be cherished by her family, her friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held December 6 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clements in Canton.
