Audrena was born in Cuyhoga Falls, Ohio to the late Charles Audley, Esq and Verena Gray. She graduated from Cuyhoga Falls High School in 1944. She attended Ohio State University where she was the 1945 homecoming queen. She met the late Robert W. Sass, DVM, at Ohio State and they married and moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1946. In Toledo, Audrena had three sons, and made many lifelong friends. While raising her sons, she became a flower show judge for the Garden Club, played in the Bridge Club, and was always entertaining. She was never happier than when she was in the garden, reading, traveling, or spending time with her family. She will be remembered as an energetic, loving, generous, Mother with an adventurous spirit. Following a marriage to Harold Craig, Esq. for eight years, she moved to Decatur, Georgia to be near her children, grandchildren, and brother. She loved Decatur and built a house with a beautiful garden, and devoted her time to helping her family. She is dearly loved and her family will cherish her memory.
Audrena is survived by her sons Gray W. Sass, OD (Nancy), David M. Sass, and John R. Sass, PhD (Sara); her grandchildren Jennifer Young (Eric), Robyn Keegan (Matthew), and Erica Sass; her great-grandchildren Grayson, Sophia, and Christopher Young, Annabelle and Elaina Keegan; her brother George Gray (Margaret); nieces Christina Deuber and Caroline Price (David); and great-nieces and nephew Gray and Lara Deuber, and Rebecca, Emily, and Allison Price.
