Barbara Wright Fortson

Barbara Wright Fortson, 83, of Canton, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Northside Cherokee Hospital. Barbara was born on October 28, 1939 in Holly Springs, a daughter of the late JT and Kate Wright. She was very proud of her work and career in the medical field starting at Kennestone Hospital as an x-ray technician, moving to the cardiac department and finally becoming the office manager at Fortson Internal Medicine. Baboo, as she was lovingly known, was a loyal, loving wife, companion, sister, aunt, Grandmommys and friend. She was very dedicated to them all. Surviving family members are her nephew, Hall Fowler and wife Beth, both of Kennesaw, GA, their 4 children and spouses and six grandchildren. She is survived by several cousins that includes a special bond with Teresa Adams (Ricky) and her four children Charlie, David, Samantha, and Chandler who all call her Grandmommys. Barbara is also survived by her companion and best friend, Jerry Cooper, of Canton. She is preceded in death by her husband Luther G. Fortson, M.D., sister Shirley W. Fowler, and brother-in-law, Thomas O. Fowler. A visitation for Barbara will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Enon Cemetery, 7494 Canton Hwy, Woodstock, GA 30188.
