

Mr. Wall was originally from Bessemer, Alabama. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in engineering.
Mr. Wall retired from Ballistic Missile Defense Systems Command (BMDSCOM) in December of 1988. Prior to his retirement, he worked for BMDSCOM as the Facility Engineer, at Kwajalein Missile Test Range located in the Marshall Islands. He described his time there with his wife as “living in fantasy island.” He and his beautiful late wife Joy opened “Sassy’s” ladies dress store in Canton, GA from,1989 –1996. Bennie and Joy had a beautiful life for over 70 years living it to the fullest, spoiling their children, grandchildren, pet dog and traveling. Bennie had a love for Alabama football and basketball, Braves baseball, boating, golfing, hunting, racing, music, watching westerns and dancing.
His happy place was always going to Gulf Shores, AL with the entire family and enjoying the beach. He always wanted to make sure others were taken care of and happy.
Bennie was met at Heaven’s Gate by his wife of 70 years Joy Elkins Wall. His memory will live on in his daughters Tammy (Danny) Cochran and Terri (Tim) Speer, Weego (Fur Baby) of Woodstock, GA grandchildren, Timothy (Alice) Speer of Winston-Salem, NC, Tyler (Joslynn) Speer of Acworth, GA, Jessica (Bradley) Johnson of Woodstock, GA, Madison (Stephen) Hart of Canton, GA, great grandchildren, Amelia Speer of Winston-Salem, NC and Addison Hart of Canton, GA
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at Woodstock Funeral Home on August 21, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211 on August 22, 2026 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Sam Williamson officiating.
