The world became a brighter place on August 23rd, 1931, when Bette Jean Bugg was born in Daytona, FL to the late Perry W and Agnes Jeter Farrior. Sadly, she passed away at her home in Woodstock, Georgia, on November 9, 2023, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family. She moved from Daytona to Grantville, Georgia shortly after she was born. She became a true native of Georgia and attended the University of Georgia, a big Dawg fan for the rest of her life. She called us every weekend when Georgia was playing and told us to make sure to watch and “pull ‘em through”. She taught elementary school and kindergarten until she retired, always telling us funny stories about the things “her children” did in her class, she was loved by them all. Mom was known as “Ganny” to her five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. It’s been said of some people that they “never met a stranger,” that was our mom. She listened more to others than she talked about herself and became a great friend and counselor to so many people. She was the bright spot in all of our lives, and of course, her favorite color was yellow. She is survived by her children, Judith Malinowski (John), Ormond Beach, FL, her son Jay Bugg (Cathy) of Rockport, ME. Her grandchildren; Ben Malinowski (Laura), Jennifer Shumaker (Tyler), Jason Bugg (Jennifer), Jayme Bynum (Joey), Jessica Bugg (Evan). Her great grandchildren; Talon, Nolan, Charlotte, Pierce, Reade and Amelia. Her two nieces; Tami Highsmith (Wes) and Torie Butler (Charles) of Waycross, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesse C. Bugg and her sister Dorothy “Dot” Hipps.
Visitation will be held at the Woodstock Funeral Home on Thursday November 16, 2023, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Grantville City Cemetery (124 Griffin St, Grantville, GA 30220).
