Brandon was a wonderful and devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and the most loyal of friends. More than anything, Brandon loved his family, and they loved him fiercely in return. He had a special bond with his faithful dog, Nala, who was never far from his side and who brought him many years of companionship, fulfillment, and comfort.
Brandon embraced – more like confronted – life with a unique combination of wry humor, skepticism, and curiosity. From a very young age, Brandon knew no strangers, knew no boundaries (in the best possible way), worked every angle, and was happy to beg forgiveness rather than ask permission.
He was gloriously cranky and cynical far beyond his years—a quality that somehow made him even more lovable and endearing to those who knew him best. And he greatly enjoyed keeping everyone on their toes with his tongue-in-cheek (though occasionally suspiciously sincere…) belief in conspiracy theories. Whether he actually believed them, or merely enjoyed the reactions they inspired in others, will remain one of his greatest mysteries.
Brandon’s passions reflected his eclectic and wide-ranging interests. He loved all things Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from childhood until his last day (he wore a new TMNT sweatshirt to his last cancer treatment). Few things made Brandon happier than a plate of Buffalo’s Café’s gourmet chicken wings. He enjoyed baseball, swimming, the band Incubus, and he was fascinated by aviation. But nowhere was he happier than near, in, or on the water – he loved scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, treasured time at the beach, and he felt a deep connection to the sea.
Although melanoma ultimately claimed his life, it never defined him. Brandon met his illness with remarkable courage, determination, and resilience, inspiring those around him through his strength and unwavering resolve to beat the disease.
Brandon leaves behind countless memories, stories, inside jokes, and a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His wit, his stubbornness, his adventurous soul, his loving spirit, and his unmistakable personality will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center in honor of Brandon's lifelong love of the ocean and the remarkable creatures that call it home.
