Braylon John Johnston

Braylon John Johnston, AKA Superman
Braylon Johnston, 8, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, surrounded by his family.
Our superhero was brought into our lives on August 2, 2010. Born a Leo, it’s no surprise Braylon was a powerful force to be reckoned with. He was the center of our lives from day one. From trips to Disney World, Gatlinburg, TN, the beach and several Alabama championship football games, Braylon was happiest when on the road and surrounded by his family.
His favorite daily activities included listening to music, watching movies and soaking in his grandparents’ hot tub. Braylon’s favorite thing to do each year was to dress up for Halloween. He became well-known in the community and had the neighborhood lining up to see his outfit. Throughout his life, he won the ‘Best Costume Award’ for Elmo, Carl Fredricksen from Up, Dracula, Big Al (Roll Tide!), Superman, Raphael, Mummy and Olaf.
Because of how happy of a child Braylon was, many are saddened to know he was born with several health conditions - schizencephaly, hydrocephalus and septo-optic dysplasia - that made his everyday life more challenging. Despite the odds against him, he never lost his fight and smile. He is forever our angel baby.
Braylon is survived by his father, Stephen Bradley Johnston, and mother, Kasey Elizabeth Wright. Also surviving are: three aunts, Cortney and Holly Johnston and Tara Kenny; one uncle, Blake Johnston; four grandparents, Cindy (‘DD’) and Steve Johnston and Robin and Dan Wright; three great grandparents, Betty and John Gilbert, Martha Johnston and Polly Smith; one great aunt, Beverly Seckinger; one great uncle, Don Gilbert; one step-sister, Emma Wilson; and Haley Cline and Danny Wilson.
Braylon’s visitation will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The funeral will follow immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, his family is asking for teddy bears (must be new) that will be donated to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. The bears will be gifted to the children during their stay to provide them peace and comfort.

Sweet Braylon has changed the lives of so many of us. Brad, you have taken such loving care of your little Superman and he says ‘thank you Daddy’. Your little guy was an angel on Earth before he became an angel in Heaven. Braylon will be watching over you for the rest of your days until you see him once again.
God is saying ‘Well done, Brad. Well done.’
