

She was born to Nathan Randolph and Charlotte “Lottie” Hutchins Randolph at the “old” Emory Hospital on February 10, 1934. She graduated from the Decatur Girl High School, where she earned a National Honor Scholar award and served on the annual staff. She then attended Agnes Scott College, enrolled as a day student majoring in history and political science; interests she carried throughout her life. She met Jack DeLay, a graduate from Georgia Tech and a Navy Veteran, the summer before her last year at Agnes Scott. They married not long after she graduated in June of 1954. Nicole "Nikki" came along in 1956, Mike following in 1959.
She and Jack were regulars at Simpsonwood Methodist Church where they sang in the choir for many years and enjoyed the Life group excursions.
A longtime member of the Atlanta Athletic Club Carolyn was tennis player for many years. She was a very talented artist but as she would tell you, “not much of a cook”. She and her husband Jack enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe before and after his retirement. They never lost their love of dancing.
She was proceeded in death in 2020 by her husband of 66 years, Jack DeLay. She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Stanley, her son, Mike DeLay and their families, which includes three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held graveside at the Decatur Cemetery on April 11, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Carolyn requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital, which can be done on the hospital's donation site.
