

She was born on Wednesday, October 13, 1943, to Henry Wattress Dewar and Myrtle Grace Dawkins in Jacksonville, Florida.
Carolyn was raised by her mother and stepfather, Walter Tillman Wright in Valdosta, Georgia and later Tallahassee, Florida, where she graduated from Leon High School.
In the early 1960’s, Carolyn moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked at Southern Bell as a telephone operator. Soon after, she married and started a family. In the mid 1970’s she settled with her family in Cobb County, living in Mableton. Carolyn went back to school, attending Atlanta Area Tech and received an associate’s degree as a hospital lab technician. She worked for Wellstar Health System for 25 years, most notable at Douglas General in Douglasville, Georgia. During that time, she moved to Historic Downtown Marietta where she lived for many years.
Carolyn loved many things, but spending time with her grandchildren was at the top of that list. She recently had moved to Woodstock, Georgia to be closer to them and always attended their school events and activities. She was an avid and passionate reader. Carolyn went to her local library and bookstore weekly. This was made apparent with books that filled her home. Carolyn loved spending time gardening and was a member of the Marietta Gardening Club. She enjoyed ancestry, and the details she remembered about her family history was unbelievable. She also collected antiques and depression glass.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her three sisters Marilyn A., Irma Grace, and Joyce Wynell; nieces, Teresa Ann, Alice Elizabeth, and Tracy Michelle; nephews David Wesley, and Mitchell Dwayne.
Carolyn is survived by her former husband, Joe C. Huey; her only daughter, Suzanne (Chris) Bishop; two grandchildren, Jack Bishop, and Grace Bishop; her loving Aunt Virginia Dawkins Hargrove; nieces, April Booth, Lori Williamson, Sherry Huey James; nephew, Doug Hart; great nephews, Carlos Miner, Greg Clark, and Lorne Miner. She is also survived by many other family members and lifelong friends.
A funeral service for Carolyn will be on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 1:00pm at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, Georgia. The family would like to invite everyone to stay after her service for a reception at Woodstock Funeral Home.
