Charles "Chuck" Kyle Dressler passed on June 21, 2026, at the age of 80, and was a resident of Woodstock, Georgia. Chuck (also known as Kyle through high school days and as “Buddy” to the family) was the only child of Charles Kyle Dressler Jr. and Delia Freeman (Marshall) Dressler, who both preceded him in death. He was born May 13,1946 at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois and grew up in Chicago’s Austin district where he attended Chicago Public schools. Chuck’s parents were from Virginia and Georgia respectively and he spent many summers in one of those states as a youngster being the “Yankee Cousin”. In elementary school Chuck was active in track & field and in high school sang in the mixed choir, played Freshman-Sophomore and Varsity football, and park district and church league basketball. He graduated from Austin Senior High School in January of 1964, was named as one of the ten outstanding seniors in his graduating class, and was recruited by several universities to play football. He accepted an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy but while at the academy, aggravated a high school neck injury and resigned his appointment. He subsequently served in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve specializing in Fire Protection with a focus on crash rescue. He was discharged in 1970 with the rank of Sergeant E-4.
Chuck graduated from Bradley University in Peoria Illinois with a BS in Business Data Processing. While at Bradley he was active in the Bradley Veterans Club playing intramural flag football and serving as club president during his final school year. Upon graduation, Chuck went to work for Hyster Company in their accounting / data processing department and subsequently worked for Federal Warehouse Company as the Data Processing Supervisor until he returned to the Chicago area working for Bell & Howell and Gould/Siemens-Allis in various data processing roles. In 1984 Siemens acquired the balance of the Allis-Chalmers share of the company and relocated the division to Atlanta. Chuck always said one of the happiest days of his life was the day he sold his snow blower. In Atlanta Chuck worked for Siemens in various data processing manager roles, rising to the position of Director of Corporate Data Processing. In 1991 Chuck joined SAP America where he filled various roles in the implementation of SAP software focusing on project management and global implementations. His tenure included a resident assignment in Japan for the delivery of project management training courses and mentoring project managers in Japan and Asia-Pacific region. After 18 years with SAP, he retired in 2009 and then held several positions in contract consulting until permanently retiring in 2022.
Chuck enjoyed several hobbies and watching football was one of them. True to his Chicago roots, he was always a fan of “Da Bears”. He continued his interest in music by singing in the church choir and “dabbling” with guitar, enjoyed “playing” with model trains, was very much at home in the kitchen and loved international travel accumulating over three million miles on Delta Airlines. He was also somewhat of a “Mr. Fix-it handyman” with a collection of “tools for every occasion”. Chuck also had a fascination with foreign languages as he attempted to learn or improve on these skills sometimes successfully and sometimes not. Trying to impress his wife with his Spanish skills while in a restaurant in Mexico he asked the waiter to bring the dinner check. However, he was a little embarrassed when the waiter whispered, “Señor, you just asked me to bring you a hotel.” It should have been “la cuenta” and not “la quinta”. When asked if he learned any Japanese he replied, “I spoke enough to be dangerous. I could ask a question and be understood but then could not understand the answer!”
Chuck is survived by
• His wife of 41 years Doris (Behling) Dressler
• His daughters from marriage to Marlene (Meadows) Dressler, Kimberly Jo Dressler and Deanna Lynn Dressler, grandchildren Jordan Merry and Madison Merry
