Dale "Flip" Wilson
December 16, 1939 – March 9, 2019
Dale “Flip” Wilson, age 79, of Woodstock, Georgia, formerly of Canisteo, New York, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Dale was born to the late Lloyd and Marion Wilson on December 16, 1939 in Canisteo, New York. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as Private First Class.
Dale was a proud American, a private person and a hard worker. He worked as a switchman for Erie Lackawanna/Conrail Railroad, a maintenance groundman for S.U.N.Y., served as former Chief for the Canisteo Firefighters and worked part time at the local gas station.
He was a member of the VFW and was a former Commander of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, softball, bowling and riding his motorcycle.
Dale is survived by his children, Deborah Light and her husband, Travis, Deanne Mitchell and Dale Wilson; eight grandchildren, Jeanelle, Jarett, Jason, Lennon, Brendon, McKayla, Alivia and Owen; four great-grandchildren, Jessie, Jackson, Julia and Ryan; sister, Nancy Vosburg; aunt, Elnora Shaut; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Memorial services will be held in the future under the care of Brown and Powers Funeral Home in Canisteo, New York.
