

Mr. Daniel (Dan) Russell Boozer of Atlanta, Georgia born on May 27th, 1951 in Greer, South Carolina passed away suddenly on March 28th, 2025. He is survived by first cousins Susan B. Holliday of Cumming, John Bernhardt of Cumming, Larry DeNise (Kathy) of Woodstock, Richard DeNise (Debbie) of Ranburne, Al.,and Chris DeNise of Jacksonville Fl. He also leaves behind many close friends, students at AMIS and relatives. Dan was a faithful member for many years of Morningside Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred Thompson Boozer, father Daniel Carl Boozer and brother James Michael Boozer.
Dan graduated from Greer HS, then went on to receive a B.A.in Government & International Studies from the University of South Carolina as well as an MPA in Public Administration.
Dan loved to serve in the community and had an incredible intellectual knowledge and love for government.
He served in Management for Administrative Services for the Atlanta Police Department where he helped to write grants, plan budgets, and write speeches..
He also worked for the City of Atlanta Finance Department where he proposed and prepared general fund budgets for the department along with improvement programs and expenditure projections for funds.
Dan was an avid lifelong collector of superhero comic books and a frequent attendee of Dragon Con Festival performed yearly in Atlanta. Dan’s true calling and passion however, was to help others, especially International University students here in Atlanta who needed the welcoming culture of Atlanta and a positive experience with Americans.The AMIS (Atlanta Ministry of International Students), through its community based volunteer program, provided that opportunity to students and helped immerse them into American culture making new friendships along the way.
Dan had a love for all animals but an exceptional affinity for cats. He adopted several during his lifetime, therefore in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Atlanta Humane Society.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday May 3rd at 1pm at Morningside Presbyterian Church at 1411 North Morningside Drive Atlanta, Ga. 30306. The church will host a reception following the service.
