

Susie Duane Nance, 90, died January 25, 2025. She was predeceased by her father John Lanier Hardy and her mother Mary Amanda Sikes Hardy. Her brother John Hardy, and her sisters Nina Wilson, Jennie Jensen and Mary Anne Hogg also preceded her in death as well as her husband Thomas Warren and her daughter Michelle Warren Poole.
After finishing high school at Miller County High in Colquitt, Ga. she obtained a two-year teaching certificate at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus Ga. She later completed her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at The University of West Georgia, in Carrollton, Ga. She taught second and third grades in several different Georgia counties for a total of eleven years, ending up in Augusta-Richmond County, Ga. The family moves resulted from her husband being promoted and transferred within the C&S National Bank (now Bank of America), finally to Augusta. After teaching in Richmond County schools for several years, she decided to become a full-time homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Sondra Warren (Atlanta, Ga.) and Amanda Nance Murphey (Mike) (Martinez, Ga.) and her son in law Jim Poole (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL), and her granddaughters, Susannah Poole, Caroline Poole, Courtney Murphey and Lauren Murphey. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Malcolm Hogg (Watkinsville, Ga.), and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Warren Baptist Church in Augusta and enjoyed going to the Family Life Center. She was a member of Augusta Christian Singles for over 15 years and enjoyed their weekly ballroom dances.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 2:00 P.M at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia and the Rev. Scott Bedgood will be officiating. If so desired, please consider making donations to your local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
