Eileen Crevoiserat, 86, of Elgin, passed away quietly surrounded by family May 27, 2018 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 26, 1932 to her loving parents, Patrick and Mary Sullivan (nee Sullivan).
Eileen graduated from Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School in Chicago, where she starred in women’s basketball and remained close to her teammates for nearly 70 years.
She married, Paul Crevoiserat on April 12, 1958, and moved to Mount Prospect, IL in 1966 to raise a family. The neighborhood kids all knew the lady with the big voice who could be heard blocks away. Eileen was a proud supporter of her three sons’ football careers – you could always hear her cheering from the stands.
Upon retiring, she and Paul moved to Woodstock, GA in 1992 where they enjoyed 22 years of retirement and again made many friends in their new church and cooking club in Atlanta. She always loved dancing with Paul at family events, and enjoyed traveling in retirement, especially to Ireland. The couple was fortunate to celebrate 50 years of marriage in 2008.
After Paul’s death in 2013, Eileen moved to Elgin to be near family. She had a close circle of friends at the Greens of Elgin affectionately nicknamed the “Rabble Rousers” and kept her mind active with card games including Saturday night poker and Sunday afternoon Bridge.
Eileen lived life in clear, simple terms and was very proud, fiercely stubborn and Irish through and through. She was especially proud of her humble Chicago upbringing and never shy about it.
We know she is reuniting with loved ones and probably making new friends already. And we know things are a bit louder up there.
Eileen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Crevoiserat; brother, Eugene Sullivan; sister Rosemary Sullivan; sister-in-law Geraldine Sullivan; uncle Richard Sullivan; aunt Margaret “Peg” Sullivan; cousin Joseph Sullivan; and granddaughter Autumn Crevoiserat Palomaki
She is survived by her children, Brian (Joy) Crevoiserat, Mary Pat (Jerry Scaife) Crevoiserat, Kevin Crevoiserat and Denis (Susan) Crevier, plus honorary son, Tim (Hillary) Sullivan; grandchildren Olivia Crevier, Thomas Crevier, Brenden Crevoiserat and Robert Crevoiserat; great-grandchildren Ryan and Joseph Palomaki; nieces and nephews Kathy Sullivan, Steve Sullivan, Linda (Mark Bayer) Sullivan, and Maureen (Joseph) Licata; and cousin Jack (Maureen) Sullivan.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Dr., Elgin IL 60123. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas More Church.
