Eleanor was born in Wanchese, NC where she met Robert, her husband of 61 years, who was serving in the United States Coast Guard during that time. She held several jobs over the years and loved them all but she always loved talking about her years serving as a volunteer firefighter in the 70s for the City of Woodstock, driving a bus for the Cherokee Training Center in the 80s and then becoming the best bread baker there ever was for Ryan's Steakhouse. Once she earned the title of Me-Maw she decided it was time to become a full-time homemaker which she was very successful in. She loved being surrounded by her family, cooking for & spoiling her husband, kids, grandchildren & grandpup, Jeter...and the random wildlife that would visit her at their home...the wildlife was fed very well on Dupree Road for many years. The next time you buy a bag of birdseed to feed the birds outside, a toy for your pet, your pet’s next batch of food, or the next time you give your pet head scratches or belly rubs, do it with love for Mom.
In her spare time she loved to dance & sing to her oldies music, go bowling with her kids, crochet and make homemade rolls which she perfected her recipe from her years of being the roll maker at Ryan's Steakhouse. She served many rolls and roles through her adventurous life. She has been called many names over the years & if you were blessed to know her you called her Eleanor, Doodles, Aunt Doodles, Ellie, Mom, Momma, Ma, Mother, Mutha, Wheezy but her favorite name of all to be called was Me-Maw.
Her shining blue eyes & her loving personality of being kind and loving to everyone will be missed but never forgotten.
